Delivering products to make your solar and battery installations easier, quicker, and more compliant.
Made by installers for installers.
The smaller, neater, and cheaper alternative to bulky pre-wired backup boards for the Fronius Gen24 inverters when used with BYD batteries for providing backup power.
All Models
Unit prewires/connects most of control wiring with only minimal external connections required - 230V AC power supply from suitable RCD protected supply, power to required external contactor coil, two wires to connect the auxiliary contact of the aforementioned external contactor, and 3 wires to connect to the Fronius smart meter.
Has inbuilt 120 ohm resistor and switch for smart meter communications wiring so termination resistor can be switched on and off as required.
Units compact size allows it to be installed inside a meter board, behind escutcheons etc. has self-adhesive back for easy installation and also tabs/holes for screw mounting.
Utilises a single Cat5 or CAT6 data cable with a sheath having suitable voltage rating for application. (for example CBUS or similar cables when in a switchboard or proximity to 230VAC or LV cables) for both backup control and meter communications.
If a single Cat5 or similar cable has been run between inverter and meter board for just a smart meter as initial installation of inverter then this makes it easy to utilise same single wire if adding a battery later.
Helps maintain segregation compliance with all data type wires being terminated with RJ45 (standard type A) plugs and so maintains double insulation right up to the unit.
With the included RJ45 adaptor all control and communication cabling is terminated in four RJ45 plugs connect the G24ME unit to the inverter and the inverter to the BYD Battery, making it easier to correctly terminate these cables.
Model Variations
Legacy
Connects to inverter via required external “Patch Unit” Cat5 unit and RJ45 adaptor (both included)
Can only utilise an external contactor with NO (Normally Open) contacts for each phase (1x NO for single phase, 3x NO contacts for 3 phase installations) as well as NC (Normally Closed) auxiliary contact for feedback to unit/inverter as per diagrams
Has 2 terminals for connection of optional backup indicator LED if the customer wants an indicator light to let them know backup mode is active.
Mk 2
Smaller than legacy unit to fit in more places more easily!
Does not require the Patch Unit like the legacy unit, connects to inverter via RJ45 adaptor (included) at the inverter
Does not have terminals on the unit for external LED indicator however with the optional Expansion unit this can be added
With the optional expansion unit you can utilise external contactors with NO auxiliary contacts (2x NO contacts for single phase or 4 NO contacts for 3 phase installations)
New version will be available to also incorporate load/hot water control as well into the soon to be released version of the expansion unit with another external contactor with a 12V DC coil.
“As a company that prides ourselves on only delivering quality renewable energy systems, we are always looking at ways to optimise and improve our installations.
We are a Fronius Solutions Plus partner and have installed a great number of Gen24/BYD Battery systems.
We love everything about the Fronius / BYD hybrid battery combination however, we are the first to admit that the communications wiring between the Gen24 inverters, Fronius energy meter & contactors (with varying voltages) is far from ideal. Until NOW…..
I have been chatting with Josh at Innovative Renewables for the past couple of months in anticipation for the new G24ME devices to become available.4 weeks ago, we received our first shipment of the G24ME devices, and I can honestly say, we will never do another installation without one.
The G24ME devices are installed in the inverter & switchboard. Using RJ45 connections at either end, rather than screwed or spring terminals, the installation process is not only much neater, but it also removes the opportunity for broken or damaged data cables.
Josh has also developed an installation manual (with pictures & diagrams) that is provided with each unit. It is one of the simplest, yet most comprehensive installation manuals I have seen in our industry. Even the least talented of Electricians could install one of these units without Dr Google.
The G24ME device is a very neat and tidy solution to a manufacturers oversight. Well done Josh and the team.”
